Being a volunteer

TSSG would not be able to function without the help and support of our volunteers. They are at the heart of what we do. Depending on particular skills or interests, volunteers may support the TSSG in one or more activities by:

  • Supporting members to take part in activities organised for the group
  • Accompanying members and carers outings organised for the group providing assistance where this is required
  • Making refreshments for members and volunteers at Friday group meetings
  • Serving as a member of our committee
  • Participating in awareness raising/fund raising events

Although previous experience of working as a volunteer is helpful, it is not essential. More important is:

  • A warm and friendly approach to people
  • Reliability and willingness to take direction if working with one of our professional volunteers
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about stroke and its effects on stroke survivors and their carers
  • A willingness to be part of a team

Reasonable out of pocket expenses are paid to all volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with TSS our President would be very pleased to hear from you. He can be contacted at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We look forward to hearing from you.
